The BEST Baked Potatoes Ever

Butter & Garlic Baked Potatoes

baked potatoes2

I love baked potatoes, they are super easy and delicious, but after looking into the possible consequences of tinfoil and baked potatoes(you can check out my post on #1 reason you shouldn’t use aluminum foil for baked potatoes) I wanted to find a better way to make baked potatoes.

What better way than with a slow cooker!  Yeah it takes longer, but you put them in and walk away!  Super easy!

The How to:

clean up your potatoes as you normally would for baked potatoes.  Next up, depending on the size of your potatoes slice each potato 3 times, but not all the way through.  In each slice of the potato you will put a thin slice of butter or garlic.  I typically alternate with butter, garlic, butter.

Next up place the potatoes in the slow cooker, top with a chunk of butter and sliced onions.  I also tossed an extra clove of garlic(peeled) into the pot for added flavor.  Let the potatoes slow cook on high for 4 hours.

The flavor in these potatoes is insane!!!!  The butter and garlic are baked right in, so every single bite of potato has HUGE amounts of deep rich flavors!

Top with sour cream, bacon and chives or other toppings you like.

Enjoy!

Joyce

no liquid, the butter melts over the potatoes and covers the bottom of the pot

Slow cooker= crockpot? Crockpot is a brand name.
My crockpot does not have an exact temperature, It automatically sets the temperature based on the time I set it for, I do believe I had it on high for 4 hours

It looks like you have onions covering the potatoes in the picture?

Ok – now I wish I hadn’t sold my crockpot already! (We’re moving, can’t take it with me) I would make these RIGHT NOW if I still had it! (Visiting from Let’s Get Real!)

Hi Joyce. I love the idea of cooking the flavors right in while crocking them. The potatoes always turn a different color when you use the crock, but they are really delicious. Now I’m craving garlic baked potatoes. You did it!
